One of the most recent examples of this phenomenon is the teaching and gospel preaching of Desmond Ford, first as a leading theologian within the Seventh-day Adventist church and later as an independent worldwide evangelist. Ford earned two doctorates and served the SDA church as a college lecturer in Australia and America. Having publicly rejected Perfectionism and methodically dismantling the sectarian Investigative Judgment theory, both advocated by the SDA church, Ford was defrocked. His church prefered its traditions.
