En 2018, ingresó como miembro de número a la Academia Mexicana de la Historia donde ocupa el sillón 21. Es miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores. Es autor de Sonora. Historia breve, entre otros libros. Ha dirigido 33 tesis de licenciatura, maestría y doctorado y recibido varios reconocimientos por su trayectoria.
Ignacio Almada Bay holds a PhD in History from El Colegio de México and is a professor and researcher at El Colegio de Sonora. In 2018, he became a full member of the Mexican Academy of History, occupying seat 21. He is a member of the National System of Researchers. He is the author of Sonora: Historia breve (Sonora: A Brief History), among other books. He has supervised 33 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral theses and has received several awards for his career achievements.
