Filipowicz, Diane H.: - Author Diane H. Filipowicz is a designer, educator, writer and historian with extensive experience in those fields. After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College, she worked as an architectural historian in South Dakota and for five years at the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. While there, she edited "A Closer Look at Beaver Dam" (WI) and authored a book on Wisconsin county courthouses. She was also a Preservation Planner for the state of North Carolina. In 1985, Diane obtained a Master of Arts degree in History of Architecture/Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University. She also co-authored "The Pew House, Frank Lloyd Wright and Madison: Eight Decades of Artistic and Social Interaction", with Paul Sprague. After receiving her Master of Architecture degree from North Carolina State University, she taught at East Carolina University for six years, including being named "Outstanding Teacher" at the School of Art there. At the same time, she edited and co-authored "Visual Research Methods in Design" with Henry Sanoff and wrote "Area Catholic Churches" for the North Carolina Architect publication. Diane is currently a principal with C. R. Francis/Architecture in New Bern, NC. She has also served on the New Bern Historic Preservation Committee, and has been a long-standing member of the Society of Architectural Historians.
