Schimbarea de ștafetă produsă în anul 2003, prin plecarea lui Legion și înlocuirea acestuia cu Mortuus nu a adus prea multe schimbări, trupa suedeză menținându-se pe aceleași coordonate muzicale: fast black metal anticreștin și foarte belicos. Cam asta ar fi de spus despre albumul WORLD FUNERAL.

Preluarea timonei formației suedeze MARDUK de către Mortuus (Daniel Rostén), după exitul solitsului Legion, s-a dovedit de bun augur. WORLD FUNERAL reprezintă primul album cu Mortuus la voce, și nu se deovedește cu nimic mai prejos de albumele precedente: speed black metal, pe alocuri, tempouri mai domoale, anunțate încă de pe Nightwing, un touch de black-death melodic (Castrum doloris, Night of the long knives), obișnuitele versuri în care sunt glorificate moartea, războiul, toate reflectând o atitudine anticreștină, pare a fi rețeta succesului.
