Agresivitate, melodie, complexitate anumitor piese care se îndreaptă mult spre progresiv, pasaje acustice, diversitate stilistică și peste toate o melancolie nordică, acestea par a fi atributele unui album reușit. În ceea ce privește orientarea stilistică, am sesizat unele asemănări între OPETH și alte trupe nordice, KATATONIA și AMORPHIS, de exemplu. Nu am nimic de reproșat acestui album.

ORCHID, anul de grație 1995, un debut în forță pe scena metal scandinavă a trupei suedeze OPETH. Catalogat drept black metal, progresiv death metal, progresiv rock, albumul ORCHID, în opinia mea, se apropie destul de mult de melodic black/death metal, stil promovat la acea vreme de alte nume grele suedeze: IN FLAMES, AT THE GATES, DISSECTION etc.
