În opinia mea, britanicii şi nord americanii au dominat clar scena muzicii rock între anii 1960-1990, dar, în multe privințe, scena rock britanică, cel puțin în anii 60-70, pare să aibă un ascendent clar fața de cea americană. În Insulele Britanice avea să se nască trupa VENOM, promotoare (pionieră) a metalului extrem, iar WELCOME TO HELL, albumul de debut, vine în întâmpinarea aserțiunii de mai sus.

Cu o invitaţie directă şi fără menajamente, WELCOME TO HELL, cu o imagine şocantă şi mesaje întru slava necuratului, îşi făcea trupa britanică VENOM intrarea, în 1981, pe arena metalului extrem. Prezentul album, în comparaţie cu versiunea originală, include şi 11 piese bonus. Poison, Welcome to hell, Wiching hour, Angel dust sunt doar câteva dintre piesele de referinţă ale albumului de debut.
