Leda doesn't want to be sacrificed, but there's no escaping a fate written in stone...

In the kingdom of Viridiana, a king makes a deal with the gods; royal blood in exchange for power and prosperity. Every year, one of his children must sacrifice another to prove their loyalty to the throne and to the gods.

Leda Locarno, bastard daughter of the king, has known her fate from the beginning. As death at the hands of her sister looms, she is desperate to escape the palace that is her prison. But Leda knows she has no talent for tricking fate.

Pyrrhus, the mysterious young tutor to the royal court, has other ideas. He may be frustratingly reserved and more compelling than he has any right to be, but he is suddenly everywhere Leda goes, and he seems to know something she doesn't.

As Leda becomes further embroiled in the dark machinations of her father's court, she will learn the true price she must pay for her freedom.
