También ha escrito cuentos, reunidos en De noche vienes (1979), Tlapalería (2003) y Hojas de papel volando (2014), así como libros de entrevistas, ensayos y crónicas. Su obra ha sido traducida a más de quince idiomas y su trayectoria como periodista y escritora ha sido galardonada con múltiples premios nacionales e internacionales, como el Premio Cervantes, reconocimiento que recibió en 2013.
