He is the author of The Wages of Destruction (2006), The Deluge (2014), Crashed: How a Decade of Financial Crises Changed the World (2018), and Shutdown: How Covid Shook the World's Economy (2021), and has received the Wolfson History Prize, the Longman-History Today Book of the Year Prize, and the Lionel Gelber Prize.
