Daca stii engleza este intotdeauna o idee buna sa citesti cartile scrise in engleza in limba lor originala, asa cum le-a gandit autorul. Fifth Elephant face parte din universul Discworld al lui Terry Pratchett, dar nu este necesar sa citesti toate cartile lui in ordine. Cartea este insa a 5-a din cea mai buna serie a acestui univers, cea despre The Watch (politia unui mare oras fictiv si atemporal). Toate cartile se citesc usor si dau dependenta, recomand sa incepi calatoria de la prima din serie - Guards! Guards! Ele se folosesc de scuza unui stil SF pentru a spune povesti despre natura umana si societate in general, in orice context istoric si geografic, chiar si unul populat de troli, varcolaci si vampiri. Nu se ia niciodata in serios, nu este moralizatoare si cel mai important, totul este scris cu un umor inteligent absolut delicios.
