Charles Haddon Spurgeon, known as "The Prince of Preachers," was a famous Reformed Baptist preacher born in Essex, England in 1834. A full-time preacher by the age of 17, Spurgeon preached an estimated 3,600 sermons by the time of his death in 1892. Spurgeon frequently preached to audiences larger than 10,000, while his printed sermons reached tens of thousands more each week. Spurgeon authored almost 50 volumes including the classic works All of Grace, Morning & Evening, The Power of Prayer in a Believer's Life, Lectures to My Students, and The Treasury of David: A Commentary on the Psalms. More than a century after his death, Spurgeon's devotional writings continue to touch hearts around the world. Once when asked the secret of his success, Spurgeon replied, "My people pray for me."
