Guardians of the Sea: Childrens' book age 7-11
Guardians of the Sea: Childrens' book age 7-11
Little Kai is very intrigued. His grandmother Vanora told him that a sea can get sick. How do you know if the sea is sick? How do we take care of the sea?
This story invites us to know the world of Valu islands and a peculiar tribe of mermaids who get up very early every day to take care of the sea and its inhabitants. There is so much to do! Where does so much garbage come from? They find more and more dolphins, albatrosses, and sea turtles in trouble... they have even found a plastic island! What will the tribe do with a plastic island? Each day is a new adventure, and the Guardians of the sea know that it is crucial to organize all the tasks. Nothing is better than using a good plan!
Guardians of the sea is the first volume of the monValu series, a project to promote values such as carefulness as care and sustainability while developing empathy, imagination, creativity, and critical thinking. Each story invites children, parents, and teachers to explore together our relationship with the ocean and proposes practical, engaging educational tools for working at home or at school.
Guardians of the sea" includes a Kanban model for children to learn how to organize their daily activities and to help Kai to prepare a good plan to take care of the sea as well as a beautiful mandala to color.
Note: If you want to visit Valu and meet this tribe of mermaids, it is useless to consult a map or use GPS. You can go there by closing your eyes and hearing your heartbeats. Like when you put a conch in your ear to hear how the heart of the sea beats. Ocean lives in each of us!
The monValu series is aligned with the science and technology education standards that exist in most countries and the objectives of the 2021-2030 Decade of Ocean Sciences for Sustainable Development.
