Amid the Second World War, two people from opposing cultures meet and fall in love, to the disgust of all those surrounding them. David, a young Chinese man, falls in love with Laura, a beautiful blonde woman whom he thought he had no chance with. David's past refuses to die however, and David must fight for his love with all he has. A touching tribute to the author's parents, this gripping tale fills in the blanks and shows the lengths people will go to separate lovers under the guise of bigotry, and just how much work went into supporting this forbidden love.

A heartfelt story of bi-racial love in the 1940's. Although society still has room for much improvement, it was trailblazers like my grandparents who laid the foundation for society to love more freely, love whom we want, and without regard to the color of skin.
