In her first book, My 15 Grandmothers, Genie takes the reader through her entire journey from growing up Catholic until she finds her Crypto-Jewish lineage dating back to Pre-Inquisition Spain and Portugal. In this book, she was able to compile all the steps she took to locate that lineage through on line resources and archives in Spain and Portugal. Some of those are Church archives, others are land records and Inquisition court cases. This is the first guide of its' kind which allows the reader to actually follow in her footsteps and trace their own lineage. This method has proven successful for many who have been able to locate their Crypto-Jewish roots. Genie has served as President of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Miami, The Society for Crypto Judaic Studies at Colorado State University in Colorado Springs and Tarbut Sefarad Fermoselle.
