Mai multe subiecte interesante sunt dezbatute in "Incognito".
Autorul abordeaza subiectul memoriei procedurale - implicită - înseamnă că creierul reține anumite informații sau mișcări pe care mintea nu le poate accesa în mod explicit. Aici avem o mulțime de exemple: mersul pe bicicletă, legatul șireturilor. Cu cât mărești frecvența de efectuare a unei activități (să zicem un sport), cu atât mișcările se înregistrează într-o memorie pe termen lung, care devine din ce în ce mai greu accesibilă pentru mintea conștientă.
O idee interesantă este dezbătură în capitolul 4. Aceea că, de multe ori, ne limităm la un univers propriu, acel univers care conține doar lucrurile cunoscute de noi. Un exemplu interesant este cu femeile care au 4 tipuri de fotoreceptori (tetracromatice) și pot vedea culori care, pentru majoritarea oamenilor, erau inexistente. Practic noi, oamenii, nu știm că nu știm de existența altori culori.
Un alt subiect dezbătut este anozognozia - Nerecunoaștere de către un bolnav a propriei sale boli. Aici sunt amintite cazuri cu persoane care nu conștientizează că nu pot vedea, de exemplu, sau sunt contienti de anumite mișcări pe care le fac sau mișcări pe care nu le fac.
Oamenii au prea puțin capacitatea de a alege sau a-și explică acțiunile, motivațiile și credințele. Creierul inconștient controlează majoritatea acestor aspecte. În carte sunt dezbătute și impactul și consecințele sociale ale acțiunilor creierului inconștient.
