Dr. Michael Howard is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Addictions Specialist, Marriage and Family Therapist and Mental Health Counselor. He is an experienced individual, couple, family, and group therapist. His counseling specialties include couples therapy, infidelity, sexual addiction, and trauma recovery. Dr Howard is currently the Executive Director and founder of Healing Solutions Counseling Center, PLLC in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Howard holds masters degrees in professional counseling, addiction psychology, marriage and family therapy, and discipleship ministries. He also holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree in counseling psychology. He is a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor and a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor. He is a Clinical Member and Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Howard is an adjunct faculty member in the graduate marriage and family therapy program at Northcentral University in Prescott Valley, Arizona where he teaches courses in marriage and family therapy, sexual addiction and infidelity, treatment of military families, and sex therapy. Dr. Howard has served in the United States Navy as both a nuclear-trained submarine electrician (Chief Petty Officer) for 18 years and as a Chaplain for 10 years. He is scheduled to retire in June 2012. He has served in a Marine combat battalion, at Navy Boot camp, at a naval hospital, on five different submarines, and most recently as Command Chaplain of a naval warship. In addition to being a prominent relationship and addiction therapist, Dr. Howard has authored numerous articles for scholarly journals and has presented at National conferences and to general audiences nationwide on the topics of ethics, sexual addiction, infidelity, and building great relationships. He is the author of the book, Pathways to Intimacy: Creating Conversations for Closeness - Creating the Marriage you have Always Dreamed of. Dr. Howard has been married for more than 25 years to the love of his life, Lonna. They have four children (Ila, Dawn, Kimberly, and Jonathan), and two dogs.
