It Doesn't Have to be This Way: A critique of, and alternatives for, Australia's current neoliberal, ecocidal and greed-capitalist economics

De (autor): Bob Elliston

Elliston, Bob: - Bob is a retired nurse whose interest in economics arose thirty years ago when politicians voted themselves a 40% pay rise while Tasmania's Health Department made drastic 'Economic Rationalist' staff cuts at his hospital. These events coincided with Tasmania's conservation struggles and the growing awareness that human-induced climate change poses an even greater danger to our existence than the threat of 'nuclear overkill' that has overhung the world all Bob's life. Exploration of philosophy, economics, religion and ecology, plus a diverse working life, has convinced him that although we face terrifying problems there are still choices and the worst outcomes may yet be averted.
