The book is about the history, genealogy and culture of Jews who lived in a shtetl Kaushany, which was in Moldova Principality under Ottoman rules, Tatar administration before 1812, Bessarabia in Russian Empire 1812-1917, Kingdom of Romania 1918-1940, part of the Soviet Union until 1990 and independent Republic of Moldova. There are historical sources that the Jews lived in that place for about 500 years. Already found archival documents provide information about Jewish life in Kaushany up to 250 years.
The author's parents lived and studied in Kaushany before World War II and many of their ancestors resided in that place in the 19th and 18th centuries.
After he researched the history, genealogy and culture of Jews in Kaushany and published Master's theses in Hebrew College, Boston, 2012, many families who lived in Kaushany or their children and grandchildren expressed interest and contacted him. They shared their memoirs, stories, and photos, which can be found in this new book.
