Like a lot of people, I was dealt a bad hand. I was raised haphazardly in the foster care system and emerged less than prepared to deal with adulthood, but I tried to count my blessings and make the best of the hand I was dealt. Still, with three part-time jobs, a mountain of debt, and a shaky marriage, I kept hoping that luck was just around the corner. And then, I hit the jackpot-literally.
