Guiadas por Crimen y castigo de Dostoievski, sus lecturas de Sherlock Holmes y su cultura hollywoodesca, Rosa y Estefanía buscarán a su hermanita en los barrios bajos de la ciudad de México y luego en Europa, donde finalmente se reunirán. Una vez juntas, envueltas en intrigas terroristas y amorosas, y luego de atestiguar momentos claves de la historia mundial, tratarán de deshacer la maldición que cayó sobre su familia a raíz del desdichado matrimonio.
