Mio is a bright and beautiful little girl who loves to play and learn, but some kids in her school make that difficult for her. The other kids tease and bully and say mean, hateful things about her. They don't like her skin color. They say she doesn't belong because she's biracial, and those words hurt her feelings.

Thankfully, not everyone in Japan feels the same way about her. With a caring and kind teacher by her side, young Mio confronts racism and bullying at her elementary school and teaches other children that all children are beautiful regardless of their skin color.
