Morning, Noon, and Night: Poetry in the Language of Jewish Time

Morning, Noon, and Night: Poetry in the Language of Jewish Time - Jen Gubitz

Morning, Noon, and Night: Poetry in the Language of Jewish Time

Morning, Noon, and Night: Poetry in the Language of Jewish Time is Rabbi Evan Schultz's first collection of poetry. Schultz's poems invite the reader to enter into the realm of eternal time, marked in the Jewish tradition through the medium of prayer three times a day. Our modern lives are so often comprised of seconds, minutes, and hours. Our ancient ancestors, with whom the three prayer times originated, connected with time through sunrises, sunsets, afternoon breezes and evening stars. The human creation of clocks and watches in many ways distanced us from the natural flow time: morning, noon and night. It is Rabbi Schultz's hope that these poems, organized around the three daily Jewish prayer times (Shacharit, Mincha, and Maariv), offer the reader a space to more deeply connect each day with the incredible and sacred realm and language of Jewish time.
