Na Wahine Kahuna: Three Women Masters of Old Hawaii - Maka'ala Yates Dc

Na Wahine Kahuna: Three Women Masters of Old Hawaii

De (autor): Makaala Yates Dc

When three legendary, women masters seek out a man returning from the war with a fractured spirit, they do more than help him heal, they lead him toward his destiny.

Maka'ala's journey begins as a crew member on the historic canoe voyage of the Hokule'a, sailing to Tahiti and back, in 1976, a voyage that will start the long journey home for native Hawaiians reclaiming their culture, and

heritage.

Margaret Machado, Morrnah Simeona, and Iolani Luahine-three highly revered na wahine kahuna (women masters)-will approach Maka'ala, at different periods, during a window of time ripe for his awakening. He agrees to their offer to teach him and studies with them for twenty years.

Each will bring something unique to his education. His kuleana (responsibility) will be the interpretation of this precious knowledge. Each kahuna lives with great respect for the laws of nature in their unique way. What we might consider magical and mystical are everyday occurrences for them. Maka'ala will see and experience things that will shape the rest of his life and solidify his destiny.

Drawing on ancient wisdom, Maka'ala shares insights and a different perception of who Hawaiians are culturally. His dream is for Kanaka Maoli (Hawaiians) to achieve their full potential.

Maka'ala is a healer and a visionary. You are invited to join him on his magical journey.
