The Western Folklife Center, an award-winning cultural institution based in Elko, Nevada, enhances the vitality of American life through the experience, understanding, and appreciation of the diverse cultural heritage of the American West through the annual National Cowboy Poetry Gathering and other performances, exhibitions, educational programs, media productions, and preservation projects that celebrate the wisdom, artistry, and ingenuity of western folkways. It has created numerous features for public radio including What's in a Song, an occasional music series produced for NPR's Weekend Edition, a regular podcast, and Emmy Award-winning public television specials, among other programming.
