OSE The Nigerian Cinderella

De (autor): Margaret Ahine Tari

Margaret Omokhodion Tari is teacher, a writer, a designer, and an artist. She was born in Uromi, Edo State, Nigeria. Before moving to the United States in 1989, she earned a higher National diploma in Textile design from Auchi Polytechnic in Nigeria. In the United States, she decided to pursue a career in education. She went through an alternative certification program which enabled her to get into the field of education. Margaret has always loved working with children. She taught Sunday school for many years. So this was an easy transition for her. Once she was in the Kentucky school system, she went on to complete a master's program in education at the Indiana Wesleyan University. She also obtained a rank one license at Indiana University Southeast. Margaret taught in the Jefferson County Public School system Louisville Kentucky from 1999 to 2019. Now as a retired teacher, she has more time to focus on her art and writing.

During this lock down with the pandemic, Margaret taught herself how to make black rag dolls. Black dolls are sometimes difficult to come by and she strongly believes that our little black girls need to be proud of our rich and beautiful cultural heritage. They need to have dolls that look like them.

As a teacher, Margaret wrote and published several stories which she used in her classroom. She taught kindergarten through third grade and was always passionate about providing an inclusive education. Margaret strongly believes all children should be able to see themselves in their schoolbooks and learning materials.

Margaret Omokhodion Tari has three sons. Tamako Tari Fark Tari and Isimemen Tari. Ose The Nigerian Cinderella story is one of her publications. Some of her other publications are: Heir to the throne, The magical land of Ekpoma and Itua.
