Paige Yarrow is a true-crime-obsessed, cheerful girl who loves binge-watching horror movies and reading with her friends. On the outside, she's full of sunshine. On the inside, she's haunted by nightmares and memories from her past. She's determined to move forward but moves three steps back when she discovers a dead body on campus. Her fixation on who did it turns into a full-fledged investigation with secret sleuthing and an unlikely connection with her partner.

Oliver Baker is a quiet and reserved guy most people would describe as grumpy. He enjoys watching old movies, cooking, and working out in his spare time. He tries to stay on the outside of everything, not wanting to risk anyone he loves being ripped away from him again. But when a murder happens on campus-and the girl he'd do anything to protect wants to solve it-he throws himself in the middle of it so she's not alone.
