Surprisingly, he took on erstwhile tennis champion Pete Sampras at the Wimbledon 2001 and knocked him out at the fourth round. So, began the story of the Swiss kid now turned a world tennis giant in the making, a sensation loved by his emerging fans, scoffed by some and dreaded by others, who were his opponents.
