Great story that reflects to children to be themselves despite others' expectations. Illustrations are warm and inviting. Might get children to eat their veggies while enjoying the sweet story. I like it because it is not gender specific and can be used for all children.

This adorable book addresses a child's desire to become independent, think himself or herself and still love his or her parents. The hunting and food themes speak to universal, timely issues for survival. The warm fuzzy illustrations are wonderful and sure to delight children as well as adults. I love this book.

***** A Beautiful Book For All

The book tells a wonderful story of a youth finding his own way and making his own decisions in life. I think the message to timeless, yet connected to moderate life with current research on diet, etc., as showing vegetarian diets to be a more mainstream choice these days than in the past. The artwork is superb, with a soft classic "vintage" feeling that tells me great care was put into each picture.
