When Author Roberta Trail, her husband, and their three children tackle the task of renovating a pre-revolutionary farmhouse, almost from the start, strange things begin to happen. Just when she thinks she has come up with a reasonable explanation for the oddities, a presence makes himself known.

The Trail family soon realizes that in every nook and cranny of the historic old home there are stranger surprises than old pipes and cracked walls. There is a whole cast of characters they will have to deal with in addition to the nightmare of remodeling. The specter of a gentleman in the dining room and a woman's voice who calls to you from a distance is just the beginning of the encounters with the supernatural they face.
