A murderer is targeting the vulnerable in rural Northumberland.

Local day centre, Homeless Helping Hands, provides sustenance, support, and safety to people in the area. Until antagonism, anger, and an atmosphere that threatens stability surround the service. A body is discovered, followed by another, and the place of sanctuary is no longer safe.

The Homeless Helping Hands staff team, each with their own backstory, struggle to protect themselves and the people using the service. As rumours and resentment rises, danger drops its disguise, and the cracks of composure by a calculated killer threaten to expose the truth.

Detective Sergeant Ronnie Ericson leads the homicide investigation, supported by Detective Constable Polly McCardle. Holding a reputation for outcomes, Ericson welcomes the case - a much-needed distraction from his lonely, personal life. Alongside his team, Ericson vows to reveal who holds the fatal control, and bring the killer to justice.
