My mother always shared valuable life lessons with my siblings and me. One that I remember to this day is, "Never give up no matter your circumstance. Always remember that you are my superstar." I did not understand what this meant as a child, but it all became clear as I got older.

My family, teachers, mentors, and the environments in which I grew up impacted my perspective of the world, and I will always be grateful for that. If I could go back in time, there are several lessons I would have loved to share with my mother.
