Coleman-Smith, Catherine: - Dr. Catherine Coleman-Smith received a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction from Jackson State University. She has served as a teacher educator in the Canton Public School System in Canton, Mississippi and the International Academy of Smyrna in Smyrna, Georgia. She is currently a teacher/educator at KIPP Vision in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the former Director of Kids Kollege Freedom School and an Adjunct Professor at Jackson State University. She has received numerous awards in the field of education. Dr. Coleman-Smith is an entrepreneur, mentor and advocate for children and adults. She is the founder and owner of Crowned in Royalty, LLC and the Crowned in Royalty Academy. Crowned in Royalty serves as a social service outreach dedicated to addressing the educational, emotional and social needs of children and families. The Crowned in Royalty Online Boutique financially supports the mission and goal of improving the lives of children and families. She is a Co-Anchor on the Mother-Daughter Show, which airs daily on the PIC TV Network. Dr. Coleman-Smith is an author. Her works include "What It Takes to Rebuild a Village After Disaster: Stories from Internally Displaced Children and Families of Hurricane Katrina and Their Lessons for Our Nation" and "Mama's Book of Prayers: Prayers, Prompts, Power, and Praise Journal and Workbook." Dr. Coleman has co-authored three anthologies: "We Write the Letters That Heal," "We Write the Letters That Heal: Uncovered" and "We Write the Letters That Heal: In Spite Of." This is the first children's book written by Dr. Catherine Coleman-Smith.
