Two decades later, Mulya Guttenstein enjoys a simple childhood in Berizky, Ukraine. An ocean away, his cousin, Frank Edelman, is surrounded by the noise and bustle of the city of Philadelphia. As the world turns to war, Frank and his family face anti-semitism in the city streets and the call of the military, while Mulya and his family must prepare for the Nazis mobilizing on the Ukrainian border.
