The Riggin Family of Delmarva Volume II: Darby Riggin of Accomack County, Virginia and Other Unlinked Riggin Lines

De (autor): George F. Riggin

The Riggin Family of Delmarva Volume II: Darby Riggin of Accomack County, Virginia and Other Unlinked Riggin Lines - George F. Riggin

The Riggin Family of Delmarva Volume II: Darby Riggin of Accomack County, Virginia and Other Unlinked Riggin Lines

De (autor): George F. Riggin

The Riggin Family of Delmarva Volume II carries on from Volume I which identified established lineages descended over 13 generations from Teague Riggin in the late 17th century colonial America, to the present time. Volume II covers many additional lines of Riggin, Riggins, Riggen, Riggens and Reagan families in America which remain unlinked by documentation or DNA studies to Volume I lineages, but which may have the potential to be linked in ways that are as yet to be proved. Volume II will appeal to individuals, researchers, family members, historians, genealogists and geneticists alike, with the challenge to work collaboratively to find common heritages.

The first half of this second volume covers the other well-documented line of the Riggin family, that of Darby Riggin of Accomack Co., Virginia, who lived at the same time and in very close geographical proximity to Teague. Darby's son John settled on the tract Cork in what is now Crisfield, MD, where many of his descendants live to this day. Following the chapter on Darby are 21 sections on other unlinked Riggin individuals and lines from Delmarva, and beyond. Significantly, these include a number of African American Riggin lines, one of which is linked to a Riggin slave owner. These unlinked lineages with Delmarva roots include:

George William Riggin of Worcester Co., MD

John R. Riggins and William Reagan of Dorchester Co., MD

John Riggen of Richland Co., OH and Peoria Co., IL

John Isaac Riggin of Hinds Co., MS

Littleton Riggins of Bibb Co., AL

For those readers interested in one of the Riggin lines included in Volume II but not interested in purchasing Volume 1, the preface, acknowledgements, introduction, maps, etc. from that volume have been included here so that this can be a stand-alone volume. The chapter on Tege O'Regen has also been included for the same reason. All royalties from the sale of this book have been donated to the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture at Salisbury University, Salisbury, Maryland.
