Moore is a visual artist as well as an author. He has had sixty solo exhibitions, most of them installations, in Canada, USA and Europe. The book Installations, David Moore, 1976-2013, published in 2017, is an exhaustive compilation of his most notable artworks.
He was a professor at Concordia University, Montreal, in the department of Fine Arts between 1974-2006.
