Neal, Mary-Anne: - Mary-Anne Neal is a lifelong learner, award-winning educator and mother of four. She is Project Director of the Dene Hero Publication Project, a collaborative, fully-Indigenous literacy project that was awarded the Arctic Inspiration Prize in 2018. As an internationally-recognized education leader, Mary-Anne has facilitated professional development for hundreds of teachers around the world. She has successfully raised achievement levels of learners in various educational settings. Her memoir vividly illustrates life lessons that she has learned, particularly since the summer of 1971 when she winged her way north of the Arctic Circle to live in a tiny Indigenous bush camp. Mary-Anne and her husband live in Victoria, BC.
