Kali has a relatively normal life, one where she spends days on the beach without a care in the world.

Until that very world catches on fire, melting everyone and everything around her.

Spurred on by the desperation to survive the dangers now threatening her life, she meets her Bonded, Jakir, after a deadly encounter with a group of lawless men. Though she's found some comfort in having someone so closely tied to her, she must meet with the other leaders of the world.
