She soon seeks the help of Barbe-Nicole Cliquot, who, after the death of her own husband, created a wine empire with just a handful of vineyards. Jeanne learns a lot from the older Cliquot, who witnessed the French Revolution when she was a child and survived against all odds. Finally, Jeanne manages to conquer the market with a new brand of brut champagne. But war and unrest threaten to destroy her hard-earned success.
