Hans–Ulrich Freiherr von Luck und Witten - a intrat in istorie si e cunoscut sub veriunea prescurtata a numelui sau - Hans von Luck ... omul care si-a petrecut 10 ani din viata in razboi sau "oaspete de onoare" al Rusiei ( ca si prizonier de razboi dupa 1945).
Cariera lui militara e strans legata de Erwin Rommel - Divizia 7 Panzer - "Divizia Fantoma" care a contribuit "din greu" la cucerirea Frantei in 1940 - apoi din 1941 in Divizia 21 Panzer - in Africa sub commanda aceluiasi Rommel , frontul de Est in Rusia, ...debarcarea din Normadia si luptele in retragere in 1944/45, pt apararea Germaniei.
Hans von Luck - descrie onest actiunile militare la care a luat parte si scrierile sale, sunt cele ale unui soldat , commandant de tancuri (prefata scrisa de Stephen E. Ambrose de asemenea e splendida) de succes , crescut in spiritul armatei prusace ,decorat cu cele mai inalte distinctii militare ...
Din prizonieratul in URSS - vom afla de ce intre 1945 si 1950 - "Pravda" erau cele "mai fumate tigari" ...chiar daca suna ciudat , veti gasi explicatiile lui Hans von Luck in aceasta carte ...
